What Is Action Wool?
Think of Action Wool as a haircut rather than a hide: the wool is shorn from the sheep and sewn into a woven backing, so you get the same dense, plush fleece as sheepskin without the leather underneath. It looks and feels so close to sheepskin that most drivers can't tell them apart — and in several ways it's easier to live with.
- No animals harmed — an eco-friendly alternative to sheepskin
- Equally plush and comfortable, and it lasts as long as sheepskin
- Will not shed, even after years of use
- Hand-washable with mild detergent or shampoo (air dry) — sheepskin is dry clean only
- Hypoallergenic and significantly less expensive than sheepskin
Action Wool, Sheepskin or Faux Sheepskin?
All three share a similar look, feel and texture. The difference is what's behind the fleece — and how you clean it.

Colors
Action Wool comes in five colors designed to look good in any interior, regardless of manufacturer: Camel, Flint, Midnight, Pewter and Sandstone. Wool is a natural product, so variances in texture, density and color can occur — we recommend ordering all your Action Wool pieces at the same time to guarantee a match. We cannot guarantee the color you order will match your interior; send us a photo and we'll gladly give you our opinion, or order a sample for a small refundable fee. Frequently Asked Questions
Is Action Wool real wool?
Yes. It's genuine sheep's wool, shorn from the sheep and woven into a fabric backing instead of remaining on a leather hide. No animals are harmed to make it.
How do I clean Action Wool seat covers?
Spot clean with water and mild soap, or hand wash with a mild detergent or shampoo and allow to air dry. Light brushing with a wire dog brush and vacuuming keeps the fleece fluffy if it mats down. Scotchgard and Febreze can be applied safely.
Are they compatible with heated seats and side airbags?
Yes to both. Warmth penetrates through the fleece, and every AutoHQ cover uses breakaway stitching and/or Velcro along the outboard side of the backrest so seat side airbags deploy freely.
Will Action Wool keep me cool in summer?
Wool is thermostatic. Air moves through its naturally hollow fibers, wicking heat and sweat away from your body in summer, while in winter those same fibers trap body heat to keep you warm.
How long does an order take?
Most custom made orders take 10–20 business days to manufacture, plus 1–5 business days of ground shipping from our Southern California facility. Installation runs about 20–30 minutes per cover with no tools required.
How long do Action Wool covers last?
Expected lifespan is 8–10 years when cared for properly. Covers are backed by a 1 year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. Because they are made to order, custom covers are not returnable — but we guarantee the fit and quality and will work with you to resolve any issue.
