Neoprene is the full waterproof barrier — best if you carry wet gear, wet swimsuits, or sweat heavily and want zero moisture reaching the seat. Air Mesh is breathable and stays cool, so it's best if your real complaint is heat and sticking to bare skin rather than soaking-wet gear. Both wipe or wash clean, and many active drivers run neoprene up front and air mesh in back.
