Our neoprene covers are. They're made from non-perforated, genuine CR-grade neoprene, so no liquid can seep through to the seat below — spills sit on top until you wipe them away. Ballistic nylon is waterproof-treated rather than a solid rubber barrier: water beads up and rolls off the surface and wipes clean, which handles everyday spills while adding scratch and abrasion resistance. If a spill absolutely must never reach your seat, choose non-perforated neoprene.
Water-resistant material slows a spill; waterproof material stops it from reaching the seat. Non-perforated neoprene is genuinely waterproof. Beware covers sold as "neo-supreme" or "neotex" — that isn't real neoprene and may only be water-resistant. Our pre-made leatherette has micro-perforations in the center inserts and so isn't fully waterproof, but custom-fit leatherette is made without perforations and therefore is.
Not with neoprene. Because the cover is non-perforated, it will not allow any seepage to reach the seat below — ideal for kids' sippy cups, coffee, and wet gear. It also blocks dye transfer from blue jeans and protects against indentations from heavy items like a baby's car seat, thanks to the rubber-like neoprene and ¼" memory foam padding.
Wipe the surface down with mild soap and water — the nylon Lycra face on neoprene and the treated weave on Ballistic both clean up easily. For a deeper clean, neoprene covers can be removed from the vehicle and sprayed down or hand-washed with a mild detergent.
No. Neoprene has a soft outer layer of nylon Lycra that regulates temperature — keeping the seat cool in summer and cozy in winter — and both neoprene and Ballistic are fully compatible with heated seats; the warmth penetrates the material.
Not ours. Every AutoHQ cover is 100% side-airbag compatible — we build in breakaway stitching, straps and openings along the outboard side of the backrest so the airbag deploys freely. This is a real concern with generic universal covers, which often wrap the deployment seam solid.
